    Parking in Amsterdam

    Public parking

Amsterdam enforces a strict parking policy. Parking is only available in designated zones and garages. Those without permits must pay for a space.

Always park your car at official parking spots where there is a parking meter. In much of Amsterdam - especially within the canal belt - there is only public parking at official garages. For on-street parking, look for the blue light box with the white letter P. In these situations, you must typically pre-pay for parking from the nearest parking meter. In total, there are around 80,000 parking spaces available.

If you do not hold a valid parking permit, you must display your pre-paid parking receipt inside your front windscreen. If you do not, you run the risk of clamping or even being towed.

For more information about parking, view this page.

    P+R (Park and Ride)

P+R (Park & Ride) is the smartest way for visitors to Amsterdam to park. These car parks are located on the outskirts of the city and have an excellent public transport connection. Public transport brings you right into the centre of Amsterdam in no time.

Parking in a P+R car park costs only â⬠8,00 per 24 hours - with a maximum parking time of 96 hours. This fee includes public transport to the centre of Amsterdam for a maximum of five people.

For more information about P+R, view this page.

    IDP

Note the parking information signs along roads in Amsterdam. These signs are part of a dynamic parking information system designed to help you find a parking place.

The parking signs are linked via a central computer, which contains real-time information about ten parking garages. When you enter the city, you will receive the latest information about the availability of parking places and the nearest parking garage.

The Integrated Dynamic Parking system (IDP) divides the influx of cars into the city and reduces the number of kilometers required to find a parking spot. The dynamic information boards above roads provide information about spaces in and around the city.

Below are parking garages where you can park your car:
